Our Emergency HVAC Repair Process

Emergency work goes wrong when speed replaces method. We follow the same proven steps on every urgent call, whether at two in the afternoon or two in the morning.

1. Triage on the First Contact

We establish what has failed, whether anyone in the home is at risk, and whether there is a gas or electrical hazard. If there is, we tell you what to shut off before we arrive.

2. Dispatch With the Right Parts

We send a technician carrying the components that fail most often: capacitors, contactors, igniters, flame sensors, blower motors, and control boards. Guessing the part on the way turns one visit into three.

3. Diagnosis and a Price Before Any Work

We diagnose with instruments and tell you the fault, cost, and options. You approve the price before we start. Urgency is never a reason to skip the quote.

4. Repair, Test, and Follow Up

We complete the repair, run the system, and confirm it holds. If we must order a part, we stabilize the home and book the return visit before leaving.

Most emergency calls end at step four on the same visit. If they don’t, you will know why before we go, and you will know when we are coming back.

Reliable HVAC Help When Portland Homes Need It

Not every HVAC problem needs an emergency call, but some should not wait until tomorrow. In Portland, a furnace that will not heat the home during a winter cold spell, an air conditioner that stops during extreme summer temperatures, or a fuel-burning system showing signs of a combustion problem needs prompt attention.

The City of Portland notes that furnaces and other fuel-burning appliances can produce carbon monoxide and recommends having fuel-burning heating equipment inspected by a qualified technician.

Conrad Heating and Cooling provides 24/7 HVAC service throughout Portland and the surrounding metro area. Our technicians arrive ready to diagnose the problem, identify the safest practical solution, and explain your options before we begin any approved repair work. We service all major HVAC brands, so you can call us even when another company installed your system.

What Homeowners Say About Our Emergency Service

A Technician at the Door Within Three Hours

Christopher Williams needed emergency service and was given an appointment within a three-hour window. Our technician, Dmitry, stabilized the fault on that visit and booked a return to complete the permanent repair, rather than leaving the job half finished.

“I needed emergency service and a technician was scheduled to come to my home within three hours. Dmitry was great, did a quick fix for the problem and scheduled a follow-up to make the final repairs.”

That two-stage pattern is deliberate. On an emergency call, the first job is making the system usable again. The second is repairing properly. Booking the follow-up before leaving is what stops the temporary fix from quietly becoming permanent. Read Christopher’s Google review.

A Water Heater Replaced the Same Day

Miguel Sanchez contacted us with an emergency water heater failure. We responded the same day and replaced the unit. We removed the old one instead of leaving it for the homeowner.

“Conrad Heating and Cooling did an excellent job responding to my emergency repair inquiry. They came in, replaced the water heater the same day, and took care of the old one! They have my business for the foreseeable future!”

Same-day replacement depends on unit availability and crew availability. We make this scheduling decision long before the call comes in. We hold emergency capacity for this reason. Removing and disposing of the old equipment is part of the price, not extra. Read Miguel’s Google review.

What Our Customers Say

Dmitry did an excellent job of figuring out what the cause was for our heat pump system not switching to gas heat when the temperature was below 35º which was a setting fix rather than a part replacement. After diagnosing the problem he did a nice system maintenance job including cleaning the heat pump compressor to like new condition. With other companies, they always suggested doing it myself.

Jim Wright

Inspected and do any needed maintenance. The furnace had stopped working, although my son in-law was able to clean some corrosion and get it working again until the tech could make a visit (it was a low of 19 degrees that night). Anastasia was able to work us in a couple of days from our initial call instead of the 1-2 week lead time of other companies in the area. This was much appreciated as it was Christmas weekend and a big storm was blowing through Tigard. Alex showed up, did a thorough check-up, did some adjustments and declared the system good to go (just needed a new air filter). Thanks to the Conrad Crew for a great job!

John Johnson

Fantastic service. excellent in all aspects. I would recommend Conrad Heating for anything related to heating, cooling, air conditioning tuneup and duct cleaning

Why Homeowners Call Conrad in an HVAC Emergency

Available 24/7, Every Day Of The Year

Nights, weekends, and holidays are included. A failure at nine on a Sunday evening gets the same response as one on a Tuesday morning.

A Price Before The Work, Always

You approve a written price, even at two in the morning. Urgency is never a reason to skip the quote. If the fault is different, we requote before continuing.

Licensed, Insured, and Permitted

We hold Oregon CCB license #238277 and carry full insurance, and our technicians are EPA Section 608 certified. You won’t be left with unpermitted work in your home.

Trucks Stocked For First Visit Repairs

Most emergency calls finish on the first visit because the part is already there. When it isn’t, we tell you immediately.

Safety Handled Before Comfort

We treat gas smells, suspected carbon monoxide, and electrical faults as hazards first. We tell you what to shut off before we arrive. We get the house warm again after it is safe.

Priority For Maintenance Members

Agreement holders move to the front of the emergency queue. They also get after-hours service.
